Experience
I have been working in the creative field for much of my life, but it wasn't until I experienced a dramatic downturn in my mental well-being that my relationship with art shifted. It took several years of exploration, trial and error before arriving here. I specialize in mixed media, especially watercolour and pen. I also enjoy words and recently I have begun to combine my art and word art together.
Style
My work is influenced by the vibrant colors and textures of nature, as well as the emotions and experiences that we all share.
I strive to create pieces that are both visually energising and emotionally impactful. I attempt to invoke movement and energy. Flow is a theme I look to capture in some way.
I deeply believe that art in it's truest form is once we are in flow or we experience another who is in flow and from there art is born.
Process
I have a deep passion for words and how they can influence us. And I will often write a piece of poetry or 'word-art' as I like to call it to compliment my art. Sometimes the art comes first. Sometimes the 'word-art' is the first to appear. I begin each piece with a very loose idea in mind, but allow the materials and my instincts to guide me as I work. I believe that the process of creating art should be just as fulfilling as the finished piece. I often share my work on Facebook and the process I go through: the mistakes I make and the success. I believe art is about sharing.
